Passive income in digital influencers

Passive income is income that requires minimal effort to earn and maintain. It is extremely appealing as there isn't the need to put in a lot of effort. The recipient can usually still devote time and energy to their primary jobs. Traditionally, the most popular means of passive income include rental income, stock investments and business investments etc. However, did you know that digital influencers are able to earn passive income too? In this blog, we will talk about how they are able to do that.

  1. Blogging!
Blogging is a fantastic way of earning passive income. Bear in mind we are not talking about blogging your day. Rather, it's more about answering the questions of your viewers. For example, making a blog about a certain cosmetic item or football boots and providing detailed insights. A successful blogger should answer a lot of the viewers' questions and it brings the possibility of monetisation and clicks-per-pay.

But, content is key. A passive income worthy blog should benefit viewers with great information. Once you've managed to do that, a blog that has been posted one time should be able to yield earnings for a relatively long period of time. So, start blogging!

  2. Merchandise!
If you have a large fanbase or loyal supporters, consider setting up your own merchandise. Some examples of merchandise include t-shirts, mugs and hats etc. You don't have to purchase from the most expensive fulfilment companies. Easy designs that represent you as an influencer often gets the job done. Once a design has been made, it is ready to be printed and shipped. Money in the bag!

Do be on the lookout for companies that are all-in-one and handle services including printing, shipping and returns as those can often become a hassle if you have to be focused on your primary jobs.

Promote your merchandise by wearing it during your videos or social media posts so it gets maximal exposure!

  3. Podcasting
Podcasting is a popular way amongst influencers to earn passive income. Since you are already an influencer, being in front of a camera and talking shouldn't be the most daunting thing. Why not use it to your advantage? According to The Project 24 Review, a well-managed podcast could yield USD$1,700 per episode with one episode per week. You can earn up to USD$6,800 a month as passive income by just podcasting!

Again, content is the king. When preparing podcast material, try to find a topic area that you are passionate about. You're more likely to make a better podcast when talking about an interest or passion of yours. Pay attention to the technical side of things too. Make sure you have adequate equipment so that the content is clearly audible and well-edited.

Once the hard work has been done, it is time to monetise your podcasts. It can be done using ads, affiliate marketing, donations, sponsorships etc. It would be handy if you have a YouTube channel too. The more exposure your podcasts get, the better.

  4. Affiliate marketing
If you've got a marketing brain, affiliate marketing may be your way to go! Affiliate marketing involves recommending products or services of the mother brands to your audience. Your job is to set up your own referral link and complete marketing duties. Commission is earned every time a sale is made via your referral link.

It's a growing industry which is expected to keep developing rapidly. In fact, it has been estimated that it has reached up to USD$8.2 billion in 2020. So, hop on the train while it's hot!

There's fairly low risk involved in affiliate marketing. There are no upfront start-up costs to it. All of the products and services are provided by the mother brand. Once your referral link has been set up, all you essentially need to do is to promote and help with the marketing side of things. Once everything is set up, you can earn relatively passive income as commission can be yielded while you're working on your primary jobs!

  5. eCommerce
eCommerce is an umbrella term for the many various activities that an influencer can do to yield passive income. eCommerce products can include your own educational courses, books, consulting services and merchandise

Think it like you're operating like any other physical stores or stores in general, the level of quality and content is always the priority. Sell products that you feel comfortable selling. Asking yourself: Will Grandma be happy to buy your products?

Some platforms that you can sell your products and services on are the obvious Facebook and Instagram business pages. But there are also eCommerce sites such as Ecwid eCommerce and Shopify!
